How to change processor name permanently

Steps you have to perform
1. Open Notepad. Copy and paste below code into file.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DESCRIPTION\System\CentralProcessor\0]
"ProcessorNameString"="Intel(R) Core(TM) i12-3470 CPU @ 32.5GHz "Change the highlighted text with anything that you want to show as processor name.

2. Save the file with .reg extension, such as "anyname.reg".

 

 

 

  

3. Double click on file. You will get two prompt, Just allow them to install registry key.


4. Now check whether name has assigned to processor. Press "Windows +Pause/Break" button to open My computer Properties OR right click on My Computer and select "Properties".


5. You should get the processor name that you have assigned with registry key.

This is enough for one session, but the problem is that the processor name reverts back to default after user restarts his computer. Solution to this is to place the file in start up folder, so whenever system will boot, the registry key will automatically will get installed.

6. Copy or cut the registry file just created above and paste it in the directory C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup (in Windows XP) or to C:\Users\User-Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup (in Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista). Replace User-Name with the current user id of user.

7. Done, now check whether its working or not.

Have you ever tried to create a CON folder or any folder with names such as “con”, “prn”, “nul” “com1″ “com2″ “lpt1″ etc. but failed? Is it impossible to create folders with such names in windows?

Well, the answer is NO and YES!

NO because, when create a new folder and try to rename it to any one of the above specified names, you know what happens! In Windows XP the folder name automatically changes back to “New Folder” no matter you try to renaming it any number of times. Where as in case of Windows Vista and Windows 7, when you try to rename the file you get an error message saying “The specified device name is invalid”.

What is the reason behind this? Simple, these names represent the internal devices of the operating system and hence we cannot create folders with the above names.

YES because it is still possible to create these folders using some simple methods as explained below:

1. Using the Command Prompt:

Here is a step-by-step procedure to create the “con” folder using the command prompt:

1. Go to the command prompt:
2. Type in the command prompt (For ex. To create a folder in the E: drive by name: “CON”)
   C:\>md \\.\e:\con
   NOTE: “con” can be replaced by any other names such as “prn”, “nul” “com1″ “com2″ “lpt1″ etc.
3. In case if you wish to delete the folder, use the following command:
   C:\>rd \\.\e:\con

NOTE: This folder can only be deleted from the command prompt. You cannot remove it by right-click delete.

2. Using ALT Key and Numeric Keypad:

You can also use the Alt key and the Numeric keypad to accomplish the same job in a much easier way. Here is how you can do it:

1. Create a New folder (Right-click -> New -> Folder)
2. Once the new folder is created, right-click on it and select the option “Rename”.
3. Hold down the ALT key and type 0160 from the numeric keypad (ALT+0160) and release the ALT key.
4. Now, the folder name should go blank so that you can type any name of your choice such as “con”, “prn” “nul” etc. and press Enter. That’s it, you’re done!

How To Print Webpages To A File

Hello To All The Mindbenders,

Story:- nothing much but a small Issue When i Went to a Person house in my vacations, and i enrolled myself in some kind of govt. works so at the end the enrollment process prompted me to keep a print of my filled details.

Troubleshooting:- 
i pressed ctrl+p button to print the webpage, as we regular do for printing our stuffs.
then in the place of select printer i choosed Microsft-xps printer and pressed the ok button to print then a new dialogue box appears in front of me asking to save a xps document.
i put the name for this xps file and saved it into my hard disk drive.

Its All End Now i can make a print of this xps file whenever i want  by opening this xps with a pdf reader.

Practice Wifi Security Testing for any encryption method WITHOUT a WiFi Router

Hi To All The Mindbenders,
Since the time I installed Linux, my urge to practice some of the many things that could be done on Linux began increasing. So the first thing I began with was Aircrack, but unfortunately, I was out of range of any WiFi networks as well as I did not have a wireless router to practice on. So I began searching the whole of the internet to see if I could find a way. I wont say I was 100% successful but if the requirements are fulfilled, you are ready to practice it. In the following steps I assume that you have at least one Windows computer.

Requirements:

As I said, I wasn't 100% successful in making a virtual Lab for WiFi Security Testing practice, so you need 2 WiFi enabled computers. Doesn't matter if you have a desktop with a wifi dongle attached. You just need wifi on both. (yea I know that's bad).
A wired network (optional)

So Let's begin
I wont be going offtopic so all you have to do is just follow it step by step.

Setting up Virtual Router the easy way out.

1. On Windows7 (except for starter edition), Just download Virtual Wifi router from here.

2. After a successful installation, start the program. Put in whatever SSID you want for your hosted network, a good password and select the Connection name from the list. 

3. Click the "Start Virtual Router" button, and your PC is now acting as a Virtual Router.

The command line method

1.Open the Command Prompt with admin privileges: click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.

2.Type in the following command to set ur hosted network:

netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=YourVirtualNetworkName key=YourNetworkPassword

3.Start the Wireless Hosted Network:

4.To stop the Wireless Hosted Network:

5.To see the Wireless Hosted Network details, including the MAC addresses of connected users:

Using Connectify (Can change the encryption method)
While on my path to find a way to change the excryption, I found out connectify. Yes its awesome.
1. Begin your work by downloading connectify Lite here (or pro if you want to spend, both work equally good).

2. Now all you have to do is fill in the details as follows
* The WiFi name : This is pretty easy.
* The password : Now that we are gonna use it for just our practices you can keep it simple. But its your choice :)
* Share Internet : Check it as you would want to gain access of the internet after entering into it right .
* WiFi : Choose the network, this one should be done by you and it must be easy.
* Mode : This is what we are waiting for, choose whatever encryption you want to practice on. I choose WEP.

You can keep the other things as they are and click on EasySetupWizard and you are done..

At last I feel satisfied. :)

Troubleshooting no driver found in windows 7 Installation From USB

Story:- a few days back i was trying to install windows 7 from a usb , then at the partitioning step i didn't get any hard drive partitions but an error message like
"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now. 
Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step"
so i got no partitions like C: , D: or E: so i can't install windows 7 from the USB.

Fix:-  
Step 1.Download Universal USB Installer .

Step 2. Execute The Downloaded exe of universal usb installer and select the type of os you are installing you will find " windows 7 installer " at bottom in dropdown options.

Step 3. Then in second option choose your windows 7 iso file.

Step 4. Now you are all done just choose the usb (USB DRIVE LETTER IN MY CASE ITS H: ) from drop down menu as shown in screenshot.

Step 5. Click on Create , then choose Yes from next the dialog box showing yes or no.
